After being awarded a PhD in inorganic chemistry in 1991, Scott started his working life as a post-doctoral research fellow at Cambridge University and then a lecturer at Edinburgh University. He gained an MBA from Cass Business School in 2000 and began his investment career at Robertson Stephens International, where he became a Senior Equity Analyst. He subsequently worked at Barclays Wealth and then Rothschild Private Bank and Trust as a Portfolio Strategist focusing on developing and managing stochastic-based strategic asset allocation tools, quantitative models and efficient portfolio implementation approaches.

Scott joined Heartwood in October 2008 as an Investment Director with responsibility for strategic asset allocation and managing client portfolios. He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
