After reading law at Oxford University, Michael began his career in 1986 at Mercury Asset Management (subsequently Merrill Lynch Investment Managers) as a UK equity portfolio manager. In 1994, he moved to Tokyo to lead the Japanese equity team responsible for non-Japanese institutional clients and retail funds. Subsequently, Michael moved to the US, where he built a team running global and US equity portfolios for high-net-worth private clients. In 2002, he joined Goldman Sachs Asset Management in London as an Executive Director managing global equity portfolios. Then, in 2007, Michael became CEO and CIO of a privately owned London-based investment office.

Michael joined Heartwood in May 2010 as an Investment Director with responsibility for managing funds and client portfolios, as well as contributing to tactical asset allocation. He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
