Heartwood Investment Strategies

We have a range of Investment Strategies designed to meet the differing needs of all our clients. Each Strategy is constructed from a number of different asset classes, blended together to achieve a certain level of risk and expected return. Every Strategy has a set of central positions, which give weightings for the different asset classes. These positions have been chosen to increase the probability of achieving a certain return for that level of risk. We use these positions as a framework for all our tactical asset allocation decisions. However, we will make substantial moves away from these central positions when we believe that circumstances warrant it.

For each of the different Strategies, we have constructed model portfolios giving precise target weightings for each holding, reflecting our current tactical asset allocation. For clients with segregated portfolios, we manage their investment in line with these models, thus ensuring consistency of holdings and hence performance.

It is common for our larger charities to have a number of different portfolios, each with its own particular purpose and an appropriate level of risk and potential return to help achieve those aims.
