After qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1974, Alastair worked with KPMG in Hong Kong until 1978. He then joined Barclays Bank to co-found the tax-based leasing group which specialised in the finance of high value utility and transportation assets. In 1984, this led to a career in investment banking specialising in cross-border tax-based structured finance with JP Morgan and ABN AMRO Bank, where he was joint Global Head of the Financial Engineering Group.

Alastair joined Heartwood in 2005 and is a Client Director, looking after major client relationships.
