Alan began his career in 1987 as an Investment Analyst with Hermes Investment Management. Between 1991 and 2001, Alan worked at Legal & General Investment Management, where he was a fund manager and ultimately Head of UK Smaller Companies.

In 2001, Alan moved to Lloyds TSB Private Banking, where he was Head of Funds Research. He joined Heartwood in 2007 as an Investment Director and is responsible for product and manager research. Alan graduated from Lancaster University with a BSc (Hons) in Economics and is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
